Welcome! You’ve made it to the page that nobody really looks at! That’s something note-worthy already…
Let me tell you a little about myself.
It all started when I was born in a little place called Iowa; better known for its lunar-like experience during the winter for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to go to the moon. Seriously, you should go there before all inquiries of going to space, trust me, Elon Musk won’t tell you this.
There I grew up running around in corn fields and sewer pipes because that’s what you did when there was literally nothing else to do. But, I also grew up having some pretty cool people in my family. My grandma, aunt, and mom are all excellent chefs. They could probably take down Rachel Ray for not only their culinary skills, but very good looks and humor. It is through them that I dived into the world of cooking and experimenting with whatever I could make or get my hands on. I credit them for bringing upon this great passion for cooking and baking that I have fostered in me which in-part has lead me to starting this blog!
For a little more depth to the story, my grandparents live on 10 acres of land. That land was once used for some animals like horses and what not while my mom and aunt were growing up, but once the kids flew the coop, they used the land for big gardens. Some of my favorite memories as a child are riding in the back of my grandma’s very very unsafe, three-wheeled, sometimes-starting, golf cart to all of the patches of the garden and helping her pick fresh fruits and vegetables for us to cook with later that day. It is through my family and traditions of cooking and sharing meals together, sometimes from old recipe card passed down from generations, that I began to learn and love to cook and bake all on my own.
That doesn’t quite lead us to here yet does it.
Along the way I fell in love with science and all the mysteries of the world. I told people that I would be a scientist when I grew up, not a chef. I studied very hard in school, got good grades, got accepted to great schools, but I always felt bad that I left my love for cooking and baking on the back burner.
I decided that wouldn’t choose one over the other, and instead I would combine the two and have an affair with both… which is what this blog is.
Here, you will find new and old recipes, that I have been crafting and trying to perfect for years. All will be vegetarian recipes that can easily be made to fit a meat diet or vegan diet! We will both learn and fail through new recipes, but let’s hope that we can use our street-smart-stellar cooking skills to fix them!
A more personal find would be my two adopted cats, Momo, the ruler and destroyer of all, and BoBi, that confused person at Disney World, sneaking into photos to get a taste of anything they can steal. Cooper, my lovely high school sweetheart trying almost anything as long as his nemesis, Corn, is not in it.
BUT I hope out of all this, we both learn along the way about how to become more sustainable and eco-friendly in the kitchen, and outside it, in our everyday life! Let’s give what little back that we can for all the great things the Earth gives to us!
If everything works out, and my love for food and science blend together nicely, I won’t have to leave anything behind again, and I will have found new people to join me in striving for happier, healthier, and cleaner living!
Excited you are here, and I hope you decide to stay,
